Heartland Co-op Scholarship Program for 2010-2011 Academic Year
Your Heartland Co-op Board of Directors has approved the 2009-2010 Scholarship Program. The scholarship program repeats the 2009 program. All recipients can be awarded only one scholarship, whether it be a $1,000 scholarship or a $3,200 scholarship. ************ Ten (10) scholarships of $1,000 each will be awarded to undergraduate students in two or four year college programs. Recipients are selected according to the following criteria:
Applicants must be Heartland Co-op members or a dependent of a Heartland Co-op member and must be a full-time student taking classes toward an agricultural degree in an Iowa college, or a two-year transferable Ag program to go on and major in an agricultural curriculum. The $1,000 Scholarship Program for 2010 application can be downloaded here and copies will also be sent to Central Iowa High School Principals, Ag Ed Instructors and High School Guidance Counselors. Your local Heartland Branch Office will also have copies of the application available to pick up.
In partnership with Agriculture Future of America (AFA), two (2) scholarships of $3,200 will be awarded to two students entering their freshman year of college. Scholarship funds will be distributed when the student provides proof of tuition and fees each semester. Up to $1,600 will be paid each semester based on the outstanding balance of financial need until the $3,200 balance is depleted. Scholars must remain in good standing with their academic institution, attend the entire AFA Leaders Conference held in Kansas City at the first part of November, 2009, and resubmit their second semester tuition bill to AFA to receive the second semester of scholarship funds. AFA will provide support materials for the scholarship and internship or work with Heartland to use cooperative materials already in place. The Scholarship in Partnership with AFA application can be downloaded here and copies will also be sent to Central Iowa High School Principals, Ag Ed Instructors and High School Guidance Counselors. Your local Heartland Branch Office will also have copies of the application available to pick up. Completed applications and the appropriate required attachments for FFA & AFA are due March 12, 2010. ************ |
